Strange Bedfellows

After a long sessions of chasing toys, empty water bottles and a few fingers and toes Abby takes a nap with her friend the bronze hare. Not the most snuggly napping buddy, but she seems to like it.

Friends Visit Abby

Jen and Kristina from Bancroft came over to visit Abby today. Abby was happy to see new people and the new toys they brought for her. Here is a great picture Kristina took. We think it looks like a doggy glamour shot.

Hooray, the rain has stopped!

Abby literally skipped for joy when she went outside this afternoon and found out the rain had stopped. It gave her time to get back to the real work she is meant to do outside … find big sticks!

Abby’s First Rainy Day

Abby was very surprised by the rain today. Her usual exuberant nature when outside was decidedly dampened (pardon the pun). It took her quite a bit of time to figure out why there was water falling on her head. After all, wasn’t bath day yesterday?

Abby’s First Easter

Abby had a great time on her first Easter. Well, she would like to qualify that … it was a great time AFTER her first bath. Abby remained very compliant though the whole process except when it came to drying her head. That was not her favorite part of the process, but with Alex’s help we soon had her smelling good and looking like a dandelion puff.

Another nap

After eating, checking out the first floor of the house, meeting Alex and playing with him it is time for another nap. It has been a big day for a little puppy.

Napping in the Car

The car ride home from Vermont was about 3 hours and Abby had the perfect technique for how to pass the time – she napped. She was sleeping on a towel we had rubbed on her mother before leaving the breeder. About 20 minutes from home she woke up, looked around, and made it clear that a stop in a nearby churchyard was necessary. With that done, she easily rode the rest of the way home and was greeted by our friends and neighbors Wendy and Rachel.

Abby Chooses Art

We went to pick up our puppy at Goldensand in Jericho, VT today. Joan S. is a very kind dog breeder and made the whole process easy. There were two female puppies. One was a bit shy and reserved, the other was eager and came easily when called, she also chose Art as you can see in the picture below.

Waiting for Abby

Pheobe awaits the arrival of her new sister by trying out the dog crate. When I asked if we should tell her that it is really for a puppy, my husband replied, “We’ve been talking about it this evening.  She is excited about her new responsibilities and really excited to have someone she can talk to about “girl stuff”.”
